Glucuronolactone Explained

Also termed as DGL, D-Glucuronolactone, D-glucuronic acid lactone, glucuronolactone is a natural metabolite in the body. A metabolite is a substance that arises during glucose metabolism in the human liver. This crystalline compound, soluble in water, has become an important element in a lot of energy drinks and stimulants, in particular, Red Bull, because studies have provided its effectiveness in improving energy, reducing sleepiness and improving alertness and time reaction. Glucuronolactone is organically from glucose in human liver and regulates the synthesis of glycogen. Since its immediate precursor is glucuronic acid, it is employed as an agent so that this acid can be taken orally for the treatment of common diseases and collagen. It is a building block of chondroitin sulfate and is seen by some researchers to be precious in maintaining healthy joints and flexible tendons and ligaments. It can be used as medicine to relieve arthritis, as it is an important part of the structure of almost every tissue and fibrous connective tissue of animals.

Furthermore, DGL can directly impact liver detoxification through glucuronidation. It is the substance that promotes and expedites the removal of hazardous noxal endogenous and exogenous body. Glucuronidation renders the elimination of drugs from the body easier. Therefore, glucuronolactone use drugs often faster than the body can produce it naturally, and thus reduces the levels of other substances such as glycogen.
